Character History
From early childhood, Meladia couldn't remember a single day without her brother by her side. Venthel was her best friend, her comrade, practically an identical copy of herself. They had the same personality, the same interests. She never even imagined life without him. Since childhood, things have drastically changed....
Even before the deaths of their parents, Meladia noticed Venthel slowly drifting away. It wasn't something that concerned her in the beginning. But over time, the rift between them widened until days went by without her even seeing him once. Meladia was well aware the cause of this gap.
On the outside, Meladia is quiet, sweet, one might even consider her innocent of any and all evil thoughts. On the inside, she plots. Her intense obsession with her brother would be widely considered unhealthy. For that very reason, she keeps it inside. Meladia has never qualmed with a single member of the Suncrown family, except, of course, the wicked Evalani. But even then, she held her tongue. It is important to Meladia to always appear fragile and delicate to her brother and so even in the midst of arguments she relies on tears and emotional breakdowns to win his favor.
In direct contrast to her apparent respect, admiration and gratitude for the Suncrown family, Meladia truly holds nothing but contempt for the entire lot. She blames them for the loss of her parents, the widening rift between Venthel and herself and the ultimate upheaval of her entire life. Meladia is a master at disguising her true feelings. Her calm, calculating nature has saved her from being discovered on many occasions. Only a select few know and understand her, only those she has chosen. Meladia is on a constant lookout for others who share the same hatred for the Suncrown house.
One source of Meladia's bitterness may be her inaptitude for the arcane. She watched her brother and Evalani grow closer by their studies, while she could never grasp most magical concepts. Her fear of abandonment and overall lack of skill in the magical arts forced Meladia to search elsewhere for her definite position. As a Ranger, she fares well.
Meladia and Venthel lost both their parents in the scourge attack. She watched them be cut down by the never-ending waves of undead as they fought to defend Suncrown land. Their small house by the river was burned, she and Venthel found themselves homeless. Meladia could never bring herself to appreciate the kindness of the Suncrowns, as they housed and cared for her and her brother. Even before the attack, her child mind could never understand why she and her family lived in such a small hut, why her father must hunt for their food, why her mother had to work, while the Suncrown Manor was home to hundreds and not a single member was forced into any unfavorable task.
Over the years, Meladia's seething hatred has grown and permeated her entire being, like poison. She still lies in wait, watching for signs of weakness in the family, searching for others who share her malice and planning her flawless ambush.
