Physical Description

Jarida was growing into a rather attractive young woman. Her hair, while strawberry blond as a child, had darkened into the fire red which the Nerel'Thos women seemed to be famous for. Her body only recently finished filling in the curves of her breasts and her hips. Her face held soft features which made the smirk on her lips stand out. It wasn't a smirk of content, by any means, just a rather amused smile, as she observed the world around her.

Known Personality

Jarida had always been a quiet child. Growing up without companions her own age had left her alone to entertain herself much of the time. She had spent her time watching the adults around her, and now, becoming an adult herself, she preferred to stand back and watch others around her, picking up silent cues. Jarida finds it rather difficult to trust others, after all her own parents had abandoned her, or so she felt like. She would rather wait to get to know someone, even if that means missing out on certain things.

Character History

There wasn't much expectation for Boreni Nerel'Thos, the youngest brother of Lord Balanor. He didn't care much for his brother's arcane interests, instead he chose to enter the Blood Knight Legions. Soon, he learned that fighting wasn't for him, instead his passion was healing other knights.

When Boreni returned home from his training, his brother informed him that he was to marry. He had arranged a marriage for the youngest brother to a nice girl from a well-off family. "This will strengthen our alliances, brother," Balanor insisted, "It will strengthen our family!"

Boreni would have none of this. Instead, he married a nice girl from a not-so-well-off family: one of the young maids who started to work at the house while he was away. Balanor was not happy with his brother, but would not send him away.

Jarida was the daughter or Boreni and the maid. She was very much her father's daughter. She, of course, had the Nerel'Thos fire red hair, and she had her father's soft features. She grew up as an only child, not having many companions her age. Her cousins were all much older, but Jarida especially looked up to Cyndesta. She remembered her cousin dearly, though she was very young when Cyndesta married Velurien.

Soon after, news of the Scourge reached the family. While this meant nothing to young Jarida, she knew that something was wrong. Her father came to her one morning, telling her that she must leave. She would be sent away to someplace safe. Only for a short time, until the danger had passed. Boreni told Jarida of the power of the holy light. He told her that she must embrace it when the time comes. Then, with only a haste goodbye, she was sent off.

Jarida spent the next few years living much differently than she had been used to. She lived in a small village with distant relatives of her mother. They had no wealth to speak of and Jarida learned to care for herself. She could hunt small creatures as well as gather herbs for food.

One day a passing traveler came into their village. He spoke of worldly things and Jarida listened intently to his stories. He was a priest and he told of his many adventures and travels. Jarida asked why he became a priest and he told her that he had only embraced the light, and the light led him to his path. His talk of the light reminded Jarida of her father. She had not seen him for almost 5 years now.

She asked the traveler to tell her anything he knew about her family. He had heard of the family. Who hadn't? With Jarida's insistences he told her everything he knew: the family had not made it through the Scourge invasion.

Jarida was struck by this news. The family she barely knew was gone? That could not be. She begged the traveler for any other information he might have. Unfortunately, that was all that he knew. He did tell Jarida of another prominent family he knew of who might know more. The Suncrown.

Jarida emberked on another journey. She bid farewel to her mother's family. The simple people who had cared for her as she embarked on a journey half way across the world. A young woman of barely 100, she was truly alone.

She arrived at the Suncrown household after what seemed like an eternity of traveling. She spoke to a few people before she found someone who could tell her anything. He confirmed the sad news that her family had not survived. At least, not most of them. He told her of her cousin Cyndesta and Jarida could hardly believe it. She insisted on seeing her cousin right away.

After a happy reunion, Jarida was invited to stay with the Suncrown. Invited to the life that she had missed out on. Now, Jarida is ready to embark on the next step of her life's journey.
