Character History
Jaira Nerel'thos is the only daughter of Beladis and Niara Nerel'Thos.
Beladis is brother to Balanor; thus Jaira is a cousin to Cyndesta.
Jaira had two brothers, Jiovanni and Belador; both are now deceased.
Jiovanni was the youngest son, and while certainly in a better position
than his sister by virtue of being male, he was not groomed for house
leadership as his brother was. Instead, he became a soldier in the
Quel'dorei army, and was killed in an assault by the Zul'Amani forest
trolls.
Jaira was greatly grieved by the death of her favorite brother,
but at the same time, she glimpsed at opportunity. If both of her
brothers were dead, then she would by default be heir to her family's
fortunes. She began plotting intricate webs of deceit and intrigue
over the course of the next 50 years.
She had a couple of suitors during this time, but nothing ever
progressed into marriage. A couple dropped dead after dining
with her family. Another was called to report to Dalaran under
mysterious conditions and was never heard from again. Jaira
orchestrated these, naturally, but was extraordinarily careful
to make sure that none of the evidence could point to her.
When Arthas' siege on Quel'Thalas began, Jaira saw her opportunity.
She forged an order calling Belador to the front lines, and added a
special poison to his rations just to make sure. She herself
commissioned a yacht to sail around Lordaeron and begged her
parents to escape with her. They assured her that they had their
own means of escape. Jaira reluctantly left them behind.
Some months later, when it was finally safe to return, Jaira's yacht
sailed back to the shores of Quel'Thalas. She arrived to find her
family's manor decimated and no sign of her parents anywhere.
She was horrified at the damage, but even more so that for her
murders and intrigue, she had gained nothing but burnt lands and
charred rubble.
Jaira's main thrust in life now is to find any surviving members
of House Nerel'Thos. She still hopes beyond hope that her parents
will be among the survivors.
