Character History

Cyndesta Nerel’Thos the eldest daughter of Balanor Nerel’Thos enjoyed the pleasures bestowed upon a wealthy name.

The Nerel’Thos family was held in high regard in among the Sin’dorei, their influence and power ran deep. The members of this family possessed a strong hereditary gift in the arcane arts which in itself commanded respect and attention.

Balanor, the Lord of the family was an extremely powerful magi who had few equals. His position was dangerously close to Grand Magister Rommath whom kept a close eye on the ambitions of Balanor. Although the urge was present Balanor, was content with his place in the arcane order, and his family reaped the benefits.

Balanor had 2 sons and 1 daughter. The eldest son, Basanti, grew to be very ambitious and often overstepped his bounds. It was secretly acknowledged among the family that the younger of the boys Bantaris would be better suited as heir to the family title. Bantaris possessed an equal ability in the magical arts, but was far wiser. Bantaris also had a greater charisma and amicable personality. In no small amount, Cyndesta seemed to possess the traits of both her brothers. Early on these traits seemed harmless enough, she was able to coerce and manipulate others in subtle ways to get what she wanted at the same time remaining in good favor with everyone.

Cyndesta’s strength of character and spirit was not unnoticed among the other families of the Sin’dorei, in particular the Suncrown family. Unalla wife of Lurien spent a good deal of time in maneuvering for the arrangement of Velurien to Cyndesta. This arrangement would clearly place Suncrown in a better position, yet unlike most arrangements of this fashion Cyndesta found something in Velurien she came to appreciate and soon this became something more. It was not long after their marriage that each saw the strength the other possessed and they knew both families would prosper.

Prior to the devastation at Quel’Thalas Balanor began to focus more on power gained from the path of the warlock and the Fel energies surrounding this discipline. Within time Balanor urged the Magister to more openly embrace these skills and encourage them among the other Sin’dorei. Though Fel magic was not shunned among the Sin’dorei it was not accepted in the same regard as the arcane arts.

As time passed Balanor grew stronger in the use of Fel magic and secretly began to accept students to train in these arts. Balanor felt the Sin’dorei would regret not taking full advantage of Fel magic. By this point, Basanti had been taking serious steps to put him further in line for succession and Bantaris found himself full time in the role of damage control for both his reckless brother and his driven father. Balanor perceived that Cyndesta possessed a powerful affinity to Fel magic.

His early lessons with Cyndesta taught her that mastery of the Fel powers would yield enough energy to not only sate the hunger that plagues the Sin’dorei but enough power to equal the most potent magi of Azeroth. He told her: “fear not the Fel demons, but find your strength of mind and soul to bend them to your will.” It was not long into this training that tragedy befell the Sin’dorei.

The aftermath of Arthas and the Scourge left the Nerel’Thos family without its Patriarch, sons, brothers, or even nephews. This left the family title to pass to Cyndesta. Though this title is now a barren crown over which few remain. The once proud and strong Nerel’Thos now has no heirs and a dim future.

The final days of her family have deeply affected Cyndesta. She witnessed nearly her entire family perish at the hands of the Scourge. Though this might cause some to wither in despair it had quite the opposite effect on Cyndesta. She saw her brothers fight valiantly and unyielding until their spirits left them. She witnessed her father wield Fel magic with a force that awed even the Sin’dorei. Cyndesta knew more pride this day then sorrow, she saw her people rise to fight relentlessly in the face of certain defeat.

Where was the Alliance of man and dwarf? Where was the might of the Orc and Tauren of the Horde? She knew only the strength of her people would have what it takes to reclaim their lands and forge a new destiny in Azeroth.

Now Cyndesta finds a new family to call her own, she carries the title of Nerel’Thos among the remaining brave members of Suncrown. She has begun to harness the strength of Fel magic and remembers her father’s words. She also sees the use the Horde may possess during the time the Sin’dorei recover their strength. Above all this, Cyndesta knows her brethren must show no weakness to any race and must never forget or let others forget the power of the Sin’Dorei.
